From wood fire to high-tech – in seven generations

Rustic Beginnings

For more than 200 years, the name HOCH has stood for sophisticated baking skills. It all began in 1769, when Sebastian Hoch appeared in official records as a wafer baker. With a good dose of pioneering spirit, he founded his own business in 1793. Baked in molds over a wood fire, the wafers found their way into people's stomachs.

Tradition meets trend

Since then, we - the Hochs - have constantly driven innovation. The first electrically heated presses came in 1904, followed by steam heating in 1924, and a 5,000 square meter facility in Bürgstadt in 1973. We now use state-of-the-art, computer-controlled baking lines and produce up to ten million wafers a day. Always with the aim of combining the best of tradition and technology.

The world is our market

We supplied a confectionery in Paris as early as 1906, and in 1911 HOCH wafers went to London and St. Louis. In 2024, we are operating more globally than ever, with a focus on Europe and North America. Large retail chains and renowned bakery manufacturers value our quality - and for good reason.

Versatile

Totally trendy: edible Easter grass and attractively designed decorative wafers – a treat for those with a sweet tooth!

Fit for tomorrow!

Over 200 years of tradition, and yet we don't stand still - on the contrary! With state-of-the-art production facilities and a motivated team, we are ideally positioned for the future. Stay tuned to see what we'll pull out of the hat next - or rather, out of the oven.
